German Auto Tech was started over 42 years ago by Dietmar Strieder, a German immigrant to the United States. Dietmar had been a mechanic at the Volkswagen factory in Germany, and when he arrived in West Memphis, AR, he decided to start his own Volkswagen repair shop.
As time went on, Dietmar realized that the area needed more than Volkswagen repair, in fact it needed a complete European car repair shop. With this in mind Dietmar expanded his shop and began working on all makes and models of European vehicles.
After 38 years of quality work, Dietmar decided to take a smaller role in the shop and to allow his son, Michael, to take over. Michael had been working on cars since he was old enough to hold a wrench, and when he took over in 2008 his goal was to continue the stellar reputation his father worked so many years to attain.
Because of the continued success of the location in West Memphis, Michael recently decided to create a second German Auto Tech location in Jonesboro, AR, in order to meet the demand for quality foreign car repair in Northeast Arkansas.
European vehicles have evolved tremendously since Dietmar arrived in America in 1970, from very simple engines to complex machines that are more computer driven than could be imagined. As technology changes so must the ways in which the vehicle is repaired. Rest assured because whether you visit the West Memphis location or the new one in Jonesboro, you receive the same quality work and affordable rates that you have come to expcect from German Auto Tech.
